To resynchronize your line with the level wind: Carefully remove the cap on the bottom of the line guide so you don't loose it and back out the pawl that runs in the worm gear so the line guide is now disengaged and will slide freely without moving the spool. Now pull line straight off the spool until you get to one side or the other of the spool. Slide the line guide all the way to the same side and reinstall the pawl and cap, run the line back through the line guide and pull off more line and make sure the guide and line are going in the same direction. If they are, everything should be back in sync, if not, start over and make sure the line and guide are at least going in the same direction before reinstalling the pawl and cap.
Once you figure it out the first time it will be a piece of cake from then on.
